My newest tattoo. I wanted something of food since I am a cook and finishing up culinary school in the fall. I thought of an avocado and my grandmother. I have got more close to my grandmother and realized I have a lot of her side of genes in me. She has been through so much and is still alive and well. To me she makes the best Puerto Rican food in the city of Chicago. And she always cuts up an avocado and puts in her rice.

I miss my old self. I miss the arrogant and selfish bastard that did not give a fuck about most things. The person that worked his ass off and has very much to show for it and flogged it almost every opportunity he had. The guy that lived in the moment and was happy to be alive at that moment. The guy that would stay out all night and drink up a storm and end up in some random situation. The guy that used to get blown and listen to Oasis and read Mark Millar comics. The guy that practiced and played guitar almost everyday and wrote songs even though he never finished them.

The shit that’s gone on the past 2 or 3 years changed me. My brother left to the army, I was in a relationship, I quit my job, I went back to school, my relationship ended, I was in between jobs for some time, and a whole bunch of other shit. Everything is pretty settled now though.

It’s time I gone back the the good life. Things are way better and I have to open my eyes more to realize it. I have a decent job for now. My teeth are fixed so now I’m even more of a handsome devil. I worked my ass off and got my ass kicked but I am just a few months away from finishing culinary school. My brother is home from the army for good. I have met many new people and networked and made some new awesome friends. I’m still playing music. I am very knowledgable and a damn good cook.

Things can suck at times but they aren’t always as bad as they seem. Sometimes you have to take a step back and reevaluate the then and now. I am very grateful for what I have and the fact that I have made it alive and still have my sanity. People take shit like that for granted.
